KARACHI - Law enforcement agencies claimed to have killed two Lyari gangsters and also arrested at least 50 other suspects, including the workers of a political party in targeted operation continued in the City.
Police and Rangers claimed to have killed two Lyari gangsters in an encounter took place in Dubai Chowk area of Lyari where gangsters opened fire at LEAs. In retaliation, two gangsters were wounded who were taken to the hospital where doctors pronounced deaths of both of them.
The bodies were handed over to the family after autopsy at Civil Hospital where the victims were identified as Sana Baloch and Yousuf Lasi. According to police officials, the victims were associated with the Jabbar Jhengu group of Lyari gangsters headed by Amman Committee Chief Uzair Jan Baloch and were wanted to the police in a number of cases. A huge cache of weapons were also recovered from their possession.
There were also some unconfirmed reports about the arrest of Jabbar Jhengu, the notorious gangster of Lyari. He was wanted to the police in over 100 cases of crime. However, the police officials did not confirm his arrest. Separately, Rangers claimed to have apprehended 49 suspects and criminals affiliated with a political party. They were arrested during targeted raids conducted in different areas of the metropolis, including Allah Dad Goth, Sharafi Goth, Lyari, Sherpao Colony, Chishti Nagar, Model Colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Awami Colony, North Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Mazdoor, Zeenat Square in Liaquatabad, Pak Colony, Al-Karam Square, Lines Area, Jacob Lines, Shoe Market, Lea Market, Mansoor Nagar in Orangi, Saib Dad Goth, Lassi Goth, Pipri, Dhani Buksh Goth, Gulzar Colony, Fire Brigade Flats in Gulberg and Haroonabad areas.
Rangers also carried out snap checking in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Sanober Heights, Al-Asif Square, Yaqoob Shah Basti, Paradise Chowk, Nawaz Sharif Park and Guru Mandir areas. Weapons of different caliber, including light machineguns (LMG), sub machineguns (SMGs), rifles, shotguns, pistols and hand grenades were also recovered. On the other side, two car lifters were arrested during an encounter with the Anti-Car Lifting Cell. According to ACLC officials, the encounter took place when the ACLC police raided the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area. Two car lifters Iftikhar Nisar and Abdul Nabi were wounded and arrested.
Similarly, three more suspects were arrested after an encounter with the police in Bilal Colony area of Korangi Industrial Area.
The injured criminals were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Police officials also claimed to have recovered weapons and a motorcycle from their possession.
Meanwhile, Orangi Town Police have apprehended an accused who killed his parents inside their house in Orangi Town. The accused, Adnan, during initial course of interrogation revealed to have killed his parents with scissors. He in his initial statement to the police told that there were ‘jins’ in his home who compelled him to kill his parents.
