Scattered showers

LAHORE - Parts of the country received rainfall of varying intensities on Saturday provided much needed respite from the prevailing muggy weather. 
Scattered showers, cloudiness and continuously blowing winds caused considerable decrease in the mercury level, reducing the intensity of prevailing harsh weather conditions.
Scattered rain-thundershower occurred in Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Lahore, Mirpur Khas divisions and at isolated places of Kashmir, Gujranwala, Malakand and Hazara divisions.
In Lahore, the rains started in the afternoon and stretched intermittently till evening. High velocity winds and scattered showers provided relief from the sultry weather by causing considerable decrease in the mercury level. Maximum and minimum temperature was recorded 35 degree Celsius and 23 C respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 87 percent.
According to the experts, westerly wave is affecting upper parts of the country and is likely to persist during next couple of days. 
Local meteorological department has forecast scattered rain-thundershower with gusty winds for Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next couple of days. Hot and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country.
On Saturday, Rawalpindi received 50 mm rains, Islamabad 46 mm, Nagarparkar 38 mm, Lahore 37 mm, Rawalakot 36 mm, Kakul 32 mm, Murree 29 mm, Mipur Khas 26 mm, Chachro 25 mm, Diplo and Chorr 12 mm each, Gujrat 19 mm, Chaklala and Muzaffarabad 10 mm each.
