Winter narrows power supply-demand gap

ISLAMABAD - With sharp dip in the mercury the gap between the supply and demand of electricity has narrowed down to just 1,200MW, making it easy for the Ministry of Water and Power to announce complete end to loadshedding for residential consumers. The NTDC spokesman while announcing end to load-shedding for domestic consumers said that the total power generation right now from all sources is 9800 MW against the total demand of 11,000MW bringing down the shortfall to 12,00MW. –Staff Reporter
 So, in the given situation the Ministry of Water and Power has decided to bring to an end load-shedding for the domestic consumers.
Giving further details the spokesman informed that hydel generation is contributing 3,740MW and thermal generation is contributing 1,515MW to the national grid. He said 4,545 MW are also being generated by IPPs.
