ISLAMABAD - The commitment of PML-N government towards addressing the missing persons issue could only be gauged by the fact that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif could not spare time in three months to receive the report of the judicial commission on the missing persons compiled by Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal.
The judicial commission mandated to trace missing persons had completed its report in three months but could not get time from premier to present the report. The report was compiled with fixing responsibility in the last week of July but still it was not submitted to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif,” said Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal, talking to TheNation. He was ready to submit report to Prime Minister (PM) whenever got time from PM for it, said Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal.
Sources said that head of the judicial commission had sent three reminders to the prime minister for submitting the detailed report which was completed in almost two years. Sources said the commission head has once again sought time from the premier to submit the report last week but due to busy schedule, it might get time in this week for this purpose. They said that the report has mentioned all the collected informations in the report about missing persons and responsibility has also been fixed at some stages. Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal had been appointed chairman of the judicial commission mandated to trace missing persons. Iqbal, who retired from the Supreme Court in July, was hearing the missing persons’ case while in service. He was also performing a responsibility to head the commission on Abbottabad operation, which was leaked by foreign media. Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal was appointed as head of the commission, constituted to recover missing persons, in September 2011, which after spending around two years have completed its report.
