My visit to Germany a step forward in ending energy crisis: CM
LAHORE - Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif has said that the prevailing energy crisis in the country would be overcome with the help of friendly countries. He said the darkness is not the destiny of the Pakistani nation as good and bright days are awaiting it.
The Chief Minister said this while talking to the heads and representatives of international companies associated with energy sector in Berlin (Germany) on Tuesday. The Chief Minister said that load-shedding has caused severe damage to industrial and agriculture sectors and the PML-N government is working round-the-clock to overcome this problem. The CM was also optimistic that his visit to Germany would be a step forward in resolving energy crisis. He said that there are vast prospects of foreign investment in Punjab. He said that all out security and maximum facilities would be provided to the foreign investors.
Earlier, talking to representatives of German periodicals, Shahbaz Sharif said that time has come for the West to change its perception about Pakistan regarding terrorism as the western views are the result of shortsightedness and lack of knowledge. He said that Pakistan has sacrificed more than 50,000 lives in the war against terrorism which include officers and jawans of army and police as well as civilians.
In response to a question about Malala Yousafzai, the Chief Minister said that she is a brave girl and every Pakistani has condemned attack on her. He said attack on Malala does not mean that people of Pakistan are against education. He said that no Pakistani wants to keep his children deprived of education. Replying to a question why foreign investors should go to Pakistan in the present circumstances, Shahbaz Sharif said that situation in Punjab is favourable for all kinds of investment. He said that provincial government is building the capability of security institutions and new laws are being framed against terrorism.
Replying to a query about drone attacks, Shahbaz Sharif said that drone attacks are against the sovereignty of Pakistan and being made without its permission which is a very serious issue. He said that Pakistan cannot remain aloof to Afghanistan situation as peace in Afghanistan is essential for tranquility in Pakistan.
