CJ lauds lawyers’ role for reviving judiciary, democracy in Pakistan


DASKA: Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry Saturday lauded role of the lawyer fraternity in reviving judiciary and democracy in Pakistan saying no one will dare to sabotage it in the future.
Addressing the members of Daska bar after inaugurating a judicial complex here, Justice Chaudhry said judiciary would fulfill its responsibility for supremacy of the Constitution and rule of law in the country.
The chief justice, on the occasion, lauded efforts of the lawyer community particularly the Daska bar for the revival of judiciary as a result of which the judiciary was working freely and according to the Constitution.
The chief justice said few years back the parliament and democracy were attacked and the lawyer community besides members of civil society across the country had rendered great scarifies for the revival of judiciary and democracy in the country.
“Nobody will dare to sabotage the judiciary and democracy in Pakistan in the future,” he added.
Justice Jawad S. Khawaja and Chief Justice Lahore High Court Umar Ata Bandial also spoke on the occasion.
Daska bar president Chaudhry Faqir Saan highlighted some problems confronted by the lawyer community in Daska.
