FPCCI member shot, injured in Karachi

KARACHI: Member of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and former chairman of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry, Manzar Alam was shot and injured in a firing incident in Korangi locality on Saturday.
Police officials have ruled out the possibility of target killing and said Manzar was shot and injured on offering resistance in a robbing bid.
District East police chief DIG Munir Shaikh told Manzar is in stable condition while the incident took place in Korangi area when he, along with his son, was on the way to his factory in Sector 27, Korangi. Police officials said the victim was shot once in his lower torso and the bullet pierced across the body. Police have registered an FIR 303/13 on behalf of his son against two unidentified persons.  Police officials further added that according to the complainant, the armed motorcyclist intercepted their car at Vita Chowrangi and demanded cash.
The robbers insisted for cash withdrawn from the bank and opened fire as they were told that cheque could not be cashed.  Manzar was taken to Ziauddin Hospital in Clifton where doctors termed his condition out of danger.–Reporter
The robbers later escaped after looting three cell phones and a wallet with Rs8,000 rupees.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah also took notice of the incident and asked Karachi Police Chief Shahid Hayat to submit the report about the incident immediately.
