MQM rejects police claims over Randhawa's murder, terms it conspiracy

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Tuesday rejected police claims that their party was involved in the murder of senior lawyer Advocate Naimat Ali Randhawa.
In a statement issued by the party’s Rabita Committee hours after AIG Shahid Hayat’s press conference in Karachi, the party challenged police’s claim that MQM activist Kazim Abbas Rizvi was picked up on Monday night.
“He has been in police custody for the last few days and was arrested on September 27 fromhis house. The whole neighborhood is a witness to that.”
Demand to form operation monitoring committee
In light of the raid on the party’s Landhi office, it called for the formation of a representative committee that will monitor the targeted operations taking place in the city, saying the allegations were a conspiracy to involve MQM in the murder and ‘media trial’ of the party already underway.
The statement added that unless charges were proven, one could not be held responsible for murder.
