IPCC Endorses Upper Limit On Global Emissions

Few of the top scientists in the world met on Friday to talk about climate change of Earth, release a report on it and embrace upper limit on greenhouse gases with new target level for humans to reduce emissions.
The climate scientists unveiled latest assessment of the UN on climate science and warned a litany of changes are under way due to human activity as the primary cause of it. They said the greatest challenge today is climate change and it is threatening our Earth, our only home.
Toward a new climate treaty the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) hoped to give impetus to the international negotiations on the issue.
The report of IPCC said, “Human influence has been detected in warming of the atmosphere and the ocean, in changes in the global water cycle, in reductions in snow and ice, in global mean sea level rise, and in changes in some climate extremes… It is extremely likely that human influence has been the dominant cause of the observed warming since the mid-20th century.”
It is a 36-page summary report and full volume of it, about 900 pages, will be released by next week. An additional report will also be coming up in 2014 on the possible steps to limit the damage. Last week the summary report was leaked. However, the final version of it remains the same apart from a slight editing done for clarity.
This is the fifth major report of the group since 1990. The last report was released in 2007.
