Earthquake in Sindh and Balochistan

KARACHI: An earthquake measuring 6.8 struck several cities of Sindh and Balochistan on Saturday.

Pakistan’s Met office measured the earthquake at 7.2

Some of the cities were tremors were felt are Karachi, Larkana, Sukkur, Quetta and Awaran. According US Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was close to Awaran.

Director of the National Seismic Centre, Zahid Rafi told Geo News said this could be an independent earthquake and not an aftershock.

According to reports, several homes have been destroyed in Awaran district and people are feared to be trapped under the rubble.

The session of the Balochistan Assembly in Quetta was stopped and members were evacuated when tremors were felt.

On Tuesday a 7.7 earthquake struck southwest Pakistan leading to massive destruction in the Awaran district of Balochistan. Over 400 people lost their lives and several houses were destroyed.
